Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef

  • 1 small red onion (finely chopped)

  • 2 garlic gloves (finely chopped)

  • 100g smoked bacon (diced in small chunks)

  • 4 Brioche buns

  • Salad, Mayo, Mustard, Tomato, Pickles... to taste and top!

Method

  • Start by placing a small pan on medium heat and fry onion, garlic and bacon until onions are slightly browned. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside

  • Placing the minced beef in a large bowl, season with salt, pepper and parsley. Mix well, using hands is best!

  • Next add in the cooked onion, garlic and bacon to the beef mixture. Continously mix the beef until the fat particles dissolve, you'll reach a paste like consistency!

  • Seperate out 4 portions from the beef mixture and form into balls

  • Spread the meat balls on the (clean) kitchen top with your hands and press down so that the burger patties are slightly bigger than the your buns in width

  • Place a grilled pan on high heat and add oil.

  • Fry the patties ~3 minutes on one side and then flip. Once flipped, add cheese and then jalapenos on top. Place a lid on the pan and wait a further 3 minutes so the cheese melts around the burger patties. They'll be ready once the 3 minutes are up!

  • While lid is on, place buns into toaster for a quick way to crisp them up and add colour!

  • Prep the buns with mayo, mustard, salad and other toppings. Once your patties are done, place them on buns, serve immediately. Enjoy!

Good to know

So in this iteration I think the beef pattie was really tasty. The onions and the bacon gave a really good taste to it, so it was super flavourfull. The buns are getting soggy quite easy but when you put them into the toaster it works alright. Next step is to figure out how to make it smoky.
